Jewellery in school

We discourage children from wearing jewellery in school. This is for reasons of safety. If your child has pierced ears only stud earrings NO HOOPED EARRINGS are acceptable and these must be removed on PE days.  Wrist watches may be worn and stored safely during PE lessons.

The Education Authority disclaims responsibility for injury caused by jewellery or loss of jewellery on the school premises. In practice this means that the parents would be legally liable for any damage or injury caused to their child or any other person through the wearing of jewellery. The school will be unable to take responsibility for any loss or damage to jewellery. Children are not permitted to engage in P.E. or sport while wearing jewellery. For health and safety reasons teachers are not permitted to remove jewellery from children, therefore if a child is wearing jewellery they must remove it themselves.  Failing this, the child

will have to miss the lesson.  This policy reflects County advice to all schools.

Lost property is kept in the school reception area (Please check for lost property after school). Occasionally children have accidents. When it is necessary, we aim to change children’s clothes with the minimum of fuss.  Parents can assist us by returning lent clothing promptly and in a clean condition.  We always appreciate donations of outgrown school uniform and underwear for our accident box.
