The Early Years Curriculum

Your child will be learning through play and practical experiences.  Each activity is planned to follow the recommendations laid down by QCA's 'Early Learning Goals'.  We plan under these six headings:

  • Personal social and emotional development.
  • Mathematical development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the world.
  • Physical development.
  • Creative development.

We have half termly topics and will keep you informed about each topic.  We also have 2 parent's evenings in the autumn and spring terms and a school report is issued in the summer term.

If you have any issues in your child's learning please do not hesitate in contacting your child's class teacher for help.

How you can help your child

The school tries to make education of children a joint task involving parents and teachers, you can help in the following ways:

  • Recognising numbers and words when out and about.
  • Play games like snap, pairs, eye spy.
  • Read regulary.
  • Attend open days and parent evenings.
  • Encourage your child's efforts in school.
  • Share information with your child's class teacher.
