Year 1 trip to Windsor Castle
The day we went to see the Queen.
Well what a fantastic day we had to finish off our topic.
The day started off with a visit to see Queen Mary's Dolls house. We were all amazed at how old and how big the Dolls house was. We couldn't quite believe that this had been a gift to the Queen and that the Dolls house has electricity, running hot and cold water, working lifts and flushing toilets.
After our visit to the Dolls house, we then had a chance to take in the state apartments and loved being able to see all of the beautiful art work and gifts that had been given to the Kings and Queens over times. The boys were especially taken by the weaponry that was on show and could not quite believe that all of it had once been used to protect the castle and the Royal Family.
When walking round the grounds of the castle we had the opportunity to see many of the features of the castle that we had been learning about (ask us what we saw and where we saw them).
One of our favourite parts of the day was seeing the changing of the guard and listening to the band play a medley of well known songs.
Our final stop off of the day was to see St Georges Chapel. We all enjoyed exploring the chapel and learning about the different areas and what they were used for. We were also excited seeing where Prince Harry and Megan would be getting married as well.
